These crispy, flavor-packed Applebee’s-inspired chicken wonton tacos are the perfect fusion appetizer or light meal. Each bite delivers tender Asian-style chicken, crunchy slaw, and a sweet, tangy glaze—better than takeout!


Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts, diced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 cup coleslaw mix
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 12 wonton wrappers
  • Chopped cilantro and sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Mold wonton wrappers over a baking rack or taco tray and bake for 7–9 minutes until golden brown.

  • In a skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add diced chicken, soy sauce, hoisin, sesame oil, garlic powder, and ginger. Cook for 5–7 minutes or until fully cooked.

  • In a bowl, combine coleslaw mix, rice vinegar, honey, and mayonnaise. Toss until coated.

  • Fill each baked wonton shell with cooked chicken and top with slaw.

  • Garnish with cilantro and green onions. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Wonton shells can be air-fried instead of baked.
  • Add sriracha to the slaw for a spicy kick.
  • These are best assembled right before serving to keep the shells crisp.
