Ingredients
- 1 block (14 ounces) firm tofu, drained and pressed
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- Fresh cilantro (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes.
- In a large bowl, combine cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
- Toss the tofu cubes in the cornstarch mixture until evenly coated.
- In a large skillet, heat about 1/4 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- Once the oil is hot, carefully add the coated tofu cubes in a single layer.
- Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Using a slotted spoon, transfer the fried tofu to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Garnish the crispy tofu with sliced green onions and fresh cilantro before serving.
- Enjoy it as an appetizer or a side dish.
Notes
- For extra flavor, try adding a sprinkle of sesame seeds on top before serving.
- You can also serve the tofu with a dipping sauce made from soy sauce, rice vinegar, and a dash of sesame oil for added taste.
