Ingredients
- 2 large French bread loaves (about 12 inches each)
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 8 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a medium bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, dried parsley, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix until well combined.
- Slice each French bread loaf in half lengthwise.
- Spread the garlic butter mixture generously over the cut sides of each loaf.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the buttered bread. Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
- Place the bread halves on a baking sheet, cut side up.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges of the bread are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before slicing into pieces.
Notes
- For a herbaceous twist, add fresh chopped basil or cilantro to the garlic butter mixture.
- For a spicy kick, mix in some chopped jalapeños or use pepper jack cheese instead of mozzarella.
