Description
A delicious and indulgent Bacon Avocado Grilled Cheese Sandwich that combines the creaminess of avocado, the crunch of bacon, and the gooeyness of melted cheese.
Ingredients
- 2 slices of sourdough bread
- 2 ounces of cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 ounces of mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 2 slices of cooked bacon, chopped
- 1/2 ripe avocado, sliced
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
- Spread 1/2 tablespoon of butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
- Place one slice of bread, butter side down, in the skillet.
- Layer the cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, chopped bacon, and avocado slices on top of the bread in the skillet.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Top with the second slice of bread, butter side up.
- Cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the bottom slice is golden brown.
- Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the other side is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the skillet, let cool for a minute, then slice in half and serve.
Notes
- For a spicy kick, add sliced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the sandwich before grilling.
- Swap out the bacon for turkey bacon or omit it entirely for a vegetarian version.
